Health groups take on new roles amid federal upheaval

Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo had Dr. Anthony Fauci’s job: director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. She took the thankless role in 2023 following Fauci’s departure in 2022 after nearly four decades.Then Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. fired her in September 2025 after having put her on administrative leave in April.
